Q#14 - DEATH PENALTY

Question #14: Do you support the Death Penalty?

No, I do not support the death penalty. I am pro-life.

I understand how victims and family members want revenge. Want ‘justice’ - may want an eye-for-an-eye- so to speak. I am empathetic to this situation and sympathetic to people in these predicaments. We have life without the possibility of parole sentences for crimes of moral turpitude. People who commit such crimes should never be set free.

I personally don’t believe in taking a life. Yes, exceptions to the rules will happen: defending yourself, standing your ground, and other extenuating circumstances. I just can’t support capital punishment.

We also need to take into consideration human error, the witness could have been wrong, the DNA could clear that person.

Just some randomness:

Thou shalt not kill, You shall not murder or You shall not kill, is a moral imperative included as one of the Ten Commandments in the Torah.

A total of 25 death row inmates were executed in the United States in 2018; of whom 23 died by lethal injection and two, in Tennessee, by electrocution, marking the first calendar year since 2000 in which more than one inmate was executed in that way.

Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a government-sanctioned practice whereby a person is killed by the state as a punishment for a crime. The sentence that someone be punished in such a manner is referred to as a death sentence, whereas the act of carrying out the sentence is known as an execution. Crimes that are punishable by death are known as capital crimes, capital offences or capital felonies, and they commonly include serious offences such as murder, mass murder, aggravated cases of rape, child rape, child sexual abuse, terrorism, treason, espionage, offences against the State, such as attempting to overthrow government, piracy, aircraft hijacking, drug trafficking, war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, and in some cases, the most serious acts of recidivism, aggravated robbery, and kidnapping, but may include a wide range of offences depending on a country.
