Free Jerry given a life sentence for marijuana!
HARRISON vs. Alabama
POSS MARIJUANA - TRAF CANNABIS 2.2 - 100 LBS
My 33 year old brother, was sentenced to life for marijuana. He leaves behind 2 young kids and fiancee. Please help us. I fear that if this doesn't end my brother's life is over plus the other people incarcerated for this non-violent offense.
He has 3 drug charges. The first time he was put on probation and this is his 2nd time sent to prison. He has never been offered counseling, treatment or anything. Now they jump to giving him a life sentence. A non-violent crime doesn't deserve this harsh sentencing and changes need to be made for human rights. Please sign my petition and help him get his sentence reduced, once they end mandatory minimum for Alabama.
The federal government has been working to end federal mandatory minimums. But what about the inmates in state prison? Do you care? If you do, please take part in this. This could be you, your family member or friend. The prisons are overcrowded with these non-violent offenders.
Never did they tell my brother he would face a life sentence the last time he was incarcerated and he did a year in prison. There are currently 1,200 people incarcerated for drug distribution, 1100 inmates for possession, 630 inmates for drug trafficking, and a total of 25, 500 in prison in Alabama. The inmates with drug charges make up 11% of prison population. 350 are serving for marijuana charges out of 25, 500 inmates, the majority are African-American.
