Question #13: Are you Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?
I am personally Pro-Life. With that being said, I would like to address some things….
This topic is very sensitive. I will do my best to try not to offend anyone.
I understand that there is a need for compromise. I know that even though I myself am pro-life that there is a need for abortions. I will not support late term abortions.
I don’t want to see back-alley abortions or talk of coat-hanger abortions. I believe that woman should have an option when raped, incest, health concerns for both the mother and child, or other extenuating circumstances. Choice starts with consent.
Leading us to Education- We need sex education. Today we have so many options available to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Prevention first - Let us work on preventing unwanted pregnancies. Starting with birth-control: birth-control pills, IUD, birth-control shot, condoms, female condoms, diaphragms, spermicide, cervical cap, birth-control sponge, birth-control patch, vaginal ring, birth control implant, vasectomy, tubal ligation, morning after pill, and of course abstinence. Abortions are not birth control.
Planned Parenthood should be helping plan for parenthood. We need Health Care - Women need healthcare. We need women's healthcare. Options regarding unwanted pregnancies should be between a woman and her physician not a clinic that specializes in abortions. Doctors and clinics should be working with local adoption programs helping to lower the cost of adoption. Women should be well educated about sex, about her body, about her options, and about the consequences of sex.
Finding a silver lining, your unwanted pregnancy could be the blessing that women who are unable to have children are looking for. 20% of all women can’t have children. Knowledge of all options should be part sex education.
Once in office I will support reasonable safe regulations regarding unwanted pregnancies. I will support women and still stand up for those voices who can’t and will never be heard. Yes, I am pro-life but I am willing to find a compromise.
During my research on this topic I discovered some statistics:
In 2015, 638,169 legal induced abortions were reported to CDC from 49 reporting areas. The abortion rate for 2015 was 11.8 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years, and the abortion ratio was 188 abortions per 1,000 live births.
The data on abortions displayed on the Worldometers' counter is based on the latest statistics on worldwide abortions published by the World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, every year in the world there are an estimated 40-50 million abortions. This corresponds to approximately 125,000 abortions per day.
I am running for office to be the change I want to see. Thank you for your support and VOTE. #VoteWisdom4Congress
