Question #28: How do you feel about Bathroom Bills - Transgender equal rights to public restrooms.

I believe in equal rights for everyone. I don’t support bathroom bills. Personally, I don’t want men/transgender in a women’s bathroom.

A bathroom is a vulnerable place. Some bathrooms are not well lit, not secure, some have no doors. Often you have to ask the lady in the stall next to you for toilet paper- I couldn’t imagine a man handing me toilet paper. Also, there have been times I have had to ask if anyone has a sanitary product I can have. It is personal, it is private. As an adult feels odd, I could imagine how a young lady would feel.

I am not trying to be mean or be negative. I respect everyone… Is this really a policy issue?

A bathroom bill is the common name for legislation or a statute that defines access to public toilets by gender —or transgender individual. Bathroom bills affect access to sex-segregated public facilities for an individual based on a determination of their sex as defined in some specific way—such as their sex as assigned at birth, their sex as listed on their birth certificate, or the sex that corresponds to their gender identity. A bathroom bill can either be inclusive or exclusive of transgender individuals, depending on the aforementioned definition of their sex.

Unisex public toilets are one option to overcome this controversy.

Other Transgender topics will be discussed later.
